The STNY Flyers 16U National Team traveled to New London, Connecticut to compete in the CT Storm Mother’s Day Classic held at Connecticut College on May 8th and 9th. Prior to playing in the tournament the members of the team went to see a WNBA game at the Mohegan Sun Arena between the Connecticut Sun and the Polish National Team on Friday night. The Flyers were called upon to go down on the floor and line up at half-court from sideline to sideline. With the lights off and spot lights spinning around the arena the CT Sun were introduced and as they came on the court they each presented our Flyers with a signed WNBA basketball, 11 Sun = 11 Flyers. What an awesome way to start the tournament!

Coming off a 4-0 showing in Ithaca the ladies continued their winning ways with a 63-45 win over CT Basketball Academy, a tough 62-56 victory over a scrappy WBA Lady Knicks team, a solid performance by all led to a 75-43 win against the Rhode Island Cyclones and followed up with a 63-33 win against Western Mass Falcons. After a 1-4 start in Richmond, VA against some quality teams the Flyers 16U National Team brings a 9-4 record to the Hershey Invitational, May 29th – May 30th.
